Join FARE - FARE Action Week Volunteer Opportunity

Football is the biggest sport in the world and belongs to us all. Unfortunately, at all levels of the game, from amateur to international, there are incidents of racism and discrimination. FARE aims to tackle discrimination by combining the resources of organisation throughout Europe.

Overview
The FARE network is looking for a proactive and flexible volunteer to assist the Programmes Co-ordinator in the London secretariat of the organisation. The volunteer will be responsible for providing administrative support as well as for carrying out research and assisting in the planning, co-ordination and delivery of the activities of the FARE Action Weeks in October.

Objectives
> To assist with the management and distribution of FARE resources, including packing and distribution of all resources, and help resolving any client queries that may arise.
> To assist with the administration of applications for small grants; to create and update Excel spreadsheets.
> To assist with external communication around the Action Weeks, including answering the telephone, dealing with day-to-day enquiries, and the distribution of both postal and electronic mailings.
> To monitor press and media for relevant news stories.
> To communicate with FARE partners, community and fan groups across Europe.
> To administer the FARE website and social media accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter; to implement new content and ensure clear communication.
> To support the Programmes Co-ordinator with the production and distribution of the weeks of action review.
> All other related duties as requested

Person Specification
Essential competencies
> An appreciation and understanding of the impact of discrimination in all areas of football and society
> An understanding of football fan cultures across Europe and the role of migrants community football
> Very good literacy, organisational and communication skills
> Good IT skills. Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, social media and the internet is essential
> Ability to work as part of team, and at the same time to be able to complete individual tasks with some degree of guidance and assistance
> Ability to work in a high pressured environment and be able to multitask
> The desire to adopt new skills and develop existing skills for future development essential

Desirable competencies
> A second language, preferably Spanish, French, Italian or an Eastern European language would be an asset
> Experience of using a website CSM is an advantage
> Experience of using photoshop would be an advantage
